Slow Dance with Loss

Slow dance with loss. Sway cheek to cheek. Move back and forth, side to side. Glide right, shimmy left. Move with it, not away from it. Gently feel its rhythm. Grip its back. Listen to its silence, and embrace the emptiness of nothing. Loss isn’t not there, either. Give it a name, stamp it with a lesson (or not). Simply watch loss dance in front of you. Be a witness.

How does it move? Does it celebrate freedom? Non-attachment? What does loss lose, if anything? Or is loss a gain?

Loss makes space to move and glow and twirl! Try dressing loss up in a tutu and honour its vigour; or let loss be naked — don’t make it a thing at all. Let that part go into the smoke, a quick sound bite of your past fleeing faster from you. Let it go. Let go of loss. And ask yourself: why cling to nothing?
